Aspiring women leaders workshop

Aspiring Women Leaders

Are you ready to take the next step in your leadership journey?

This one‑day workshop introduces key leadership concepts and explores the unique experiences of women who are working towards leadership roles within healthcare. Throughout the day, you will have the opportunity to reflect on your strengths, understand common barriers and identify practical actions to support your leadership development.

The workshop is open to all women in healthcare who are looking to build their confidence and enhance their leadership skills. You do not need to be in a formal leadership position to attend and all grades, backgrounds and roles are welcome.

The course is particularly supportive for women who are pre‑consultant or in the early stages of an SAS career and who are beginning to develop their leadership identity. It is also valuable for consultant and senior SAS clinicians who prefer a shorter and virtual option compared with our in-depth Emerging Women Leaders programme designed for consultants.

What will I learn?

By participating in the Aspiring women leaders workshop, attendees will gain practical knowledge and skills to support their leadership development. The course is structured to deliver the following learning outcomes:

  • Define what leadership looks and feels like as a woman
  • Consider the barriers to being a leader and how to address them
  • Develop awareness of your own leadership style and the behaviours of effective leaders
  • Identify opportunities to develop your leadership experience
  • Create strategies for effective communication in leadership scenarios
  • Recognise areas for development and learn how to respond effectively to feedback
  • Gain insight into limiting assumptions that may hinder your progress
  • Develop an action plan for navigating your next steps in leadership.

These outcomes are designed to empower women to reflect on their leadership journey, build confidence, and take actionable steps towards their professional growth.

This workshop is approved for 6 external CPD credits.

Women from all grades and roles in multiprofessional teams are encouraged to join. You do not need to be in a formal leadership position to attend.
