The ÄÛ²ÝÓ°Ôº is a professional body aiming to improve the quality of patient care by continually raising medical standards. We are not able to provide a patient referral service nor can we recommend consultants to patients. We would advise patients to consult their general practitioner for referral to a specialist. If appropriate, GPs should be able to arrange appointments for a second opinion either by another GP or a hospital doctor.

Patients wishing to identify and contact a specialist or consultant directly may refer to NHS Choices consultant guide. This is a free online database, which can be searched by specialty and postcode:

To verify that doctors are licensed to practice, check the General Medical Council register, which can be freely consulted online. The register includes details of specialist qualification.
